SU SGA 'Big Event' Application Deadline Apr. 1

Thursday, March 17, 2011

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University students unite to help the community during their seventh annual Big Event community cleanup day, sponsored by the Student Government Association Saturday, April 16.

During the community service project, hundreds of SU students help University neighbors with household chores such as raking leaves, cleaning attics and painting. Properties surrounding the SU campus are eligible. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 1.

“The Big Event lets the community know that we are here to help them,” said Emma Lewis, SGA vice president of University affairs. “Our neighbors do so much for SU, and this is our way of saying ‘thank you.’ Salisbury is our home, too, and we want it to be as nice as it can be.”

In the past, students have performed painting and maintenance projects at county and municipal recreation areas in addition to assisting with yard work, window washing and painting at private residences.
