Salisbury Police Department announces 8 week Citizens' Police Academy starting March 2nd.
The Salisbury Police Department invites you to attend the Citizen’s Police Academy. This academy will be open to anyone living or working in the city.
With public support and understanding so essential to the Law Enforcement Administration the Citizen’s Academy will prove to be an excellent program to bring the community and law enforcement together for common goals.
“Understanding through education” is the objective of the Citizen’s Police Academy. This is accomplished by the exchange of information from the participants and the Law Enforcement instructors of the class.
The Academy will meet for eight(8) sessions totaling (16) hours. The sessions will be held from Wednesday March 2 through Wednesday April 20 from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. at the Salisbury Police Department Training Room.
The class size will be limited and applications will be considered on a first come first serve basis. Each applicant must be 18 years of age and will be subject to a criminal history check prior to being a participant.
There will be classes involving Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigations, Crime Prevention, the Tactical unit, and much more.
Participants in the program will learn about the organizational structure of the Salisbury Police Department, its mission, role and values, patrol functions, communications, criminal investigation techniques, evidence collection procedures, safe streets team, community relations/crime prevention programs, tactical unit and more.
After completing this program, citizens will have a greater appreciation of the various activities and challenges facing law enforcement officers. The Academy is an informational program only. Attendees of the
program will have no police powers or
authority.
Applications may be picked up from and returned to the Salisbury Police Department, 699 West Salisbury Pkwy or the Mayor’s Office, 125 N. Division St., Salisbury, Md 21801 or the Neighborhood Services & Code Compliance Office 501 B E. Church Street.
